What is "Hosting" and why do I need it?

The pages and scripts that make up your website need somewhere to live that is accessible to everyone who is connected to the internet, 24 hours a day.

You could, with sufficient investment and technical know how, set up your own "server" and have it permanently connected to the internet but for most of us, this is not a viable option.

Instead, we use "Hosting Companies" who's function it is to provide the server space and access that we need.

What do I want from a Host?

The most important issue for most people is that their website is available to clients/customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The base package that I offer is usually sufficient for most peoples needs.

The annual fee is just £60.00 and by hosting with me, you remove any worries about setting up your website or email addresses or any other technical issues as I will deal with all of those for you.

You will have complete access to your website's "back end". When your site is set up, I will give you a special address which will connect you to your Cpanel, a very powerful tool from which you can monitor statistics, set up new email addresses and databases, install free scripts which give you the ability to have mailing lists, blogs and much more.

Free Extras and "Scripts"

Once you have a hosting account with AB Media Services you have access to a huge quantity of "scripts", far too many to list here. Scripts are server applications that range from Content Management Systems such as JOOMLA and WORDPRESS to E-Commerce systems by MAGENTO, OS COMMERCE, ZEN CART etc.

There are also blogs, billing systems, mailing lists and more.

The scripts are easily installed although if you need help then please ask me.
